Production Meeting Notes - 03/28/10

RFP's!!!

Set:
Figure out how to build rake.
Experiment with sand.

Beach Trip: Sunday April 11th

Mon, Apr 5th: Set Build Starts

Designers: Make Deadlines for Yo'selves!

Costume:
Bits of stripe. (Not TOO Nautical)
Natural vs Synthetic Materials
Oliver w/Rain Jacket as Child
Dorky Kid Jeans
Corduroy

Oliver & YL: Clothes go from separate to more similar

90s style clothes

13 yr. old hoodie. Similar hoodie when 16, but more beat up.

Mom:
Trenchcoat
Quirky Patterns/Colors (Small Amount)
Patterns w/Naturalistic Influences

Set:
Oliver has a dresser (small, side of bed)
Seashells on side

Design has to be shifted right (for fire safety reasons)
Rake: 2ft upstage, 0 downstage
Cyc: 1ft in, hanging from catwalk
Black scrim in front of sic
Actors would be able exit from the side of the sand (Stage Right only)
Boardwalk needs to be resolved

Not making it look like a sandbox
Boys' rooms: Blues and greens that age as the boys grow up.
Working with Light to modify color

Bedroom doors open into the room

Where does "Is Ollie Here?" begin? Neutral Space? On the beach?

Walls not see-through (not plexiglass)

Sound:
"smoke or the sound of traffic combines with mist and the sound of the waves"
Beach sounds contaminated by outside world.
Layering of sound elements
Juxtaposition of privacy and "hubbub"

Times of day on the beach (natural look)
Lighting sand. (Light & Set should experiment together)
Each time they go to the beach it's the same, but slightly different

YL's light in room more welcoming, natural than Oliver's.
Oliver's room more cave-like.
YL's room: warm colors/light from outside, air-ier, open
Oliver's room: suffocating.
